Fern Communications (FernCom), an OEG Group company, has been selected to take part in ORE Catapult’s new accelerator programme, Launch Academy East of England, alongside nine other East Anglian companies.
FernCom has developed an innovative solution for low-cost, automatic real-time people tracking, named F-trax, utilising a new-to-industry technology which integrates with existing marine management systems. Other innovations within the cohort include robots for turbine maintenance, recycling wind turbine blades, and carbon capture devices.
Each company participating in the Launch Academy programme will receive support over the course of the six-month long programme to commercialise their products or services.
Clive Cushion, Technical Director at FernCom said, “Our game-changing innovation has already received interest from several energy developers, and with the support of Launch Academy we aim to bring the product to market by the end of 2023.”
The companies, three from each of the participating counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex, met for the official programme launch on Tuesday 27th June at the Hethel Engineering Centre in Norwich, where each company presented their company and innovation.
Funding for the programme has been provided by ORE Catapult, RWE, Norfolk County Council, Essex County Council and Suffolk County Council with pro bono support provided by Marks & Clerk, Birketts and Lovewell Blake.
The ORE Catapult Launch Academy programme will run from June until December 2023.
