Fern Communications (Fern) is pleased to announce that two of their team members recently completed the full Global Wind Organisation (GWO) certificate as part of the company’s investment in their employees.
Both Mia Porter, Engineering Project Manager Apprentice and Lee Cheung, R&D Manager, passed the full GWO course at East Coast College Energy Skills Centre in Lowestoft, with the course run by Maersk.
The full GWO course includes; GWO Working at Height, GWO Manual Handling, GWO First Aid, GWO Sea Survival and GWO Fire Awareness.
Clive Cushion, Technical Director at Fern said, “I am very proud of Mia Porter for successfully completing her first GWO course, along with Lee Cheung who was on the course with her.
I was particularly impressed with Mia’s dedication and preparation by attending the local gym to build her strength and stamina. Mia is now planning her first offshore engineering job which will take place in February.
It’s great to see Mia, a young local person embracing the challenges and opportunities of working offshore in renewable energy. Well done!”
